TIABELE

A Physician's curation of African and Diaspora-led beauty, selected for integrity, performance and skin health.

Why We Exist

Tiabele was built from a conviction: African and Diaspora-led beauty brands deserved more than visibility. They deserved a standard.

Not a seasonal spotlight.
Not a filtered category.
But a point of view — defined from the start.

Founded by Dr. Maame Sampah, MD, PhD, Tiabele sits at the intersection of two forms of excellence. The first is ancient. Botanical traditions that have supported skin for generations — shea, moringa, baobab — ingredients Africa has long understood, and the rest of the world is still learning.
The second is modern. Founders who recognized what mainstream beauty was missing — for skin tone, for barrier health, for formulations that actually perform for a range of skin types — and built better solutions.

Both belong here.
African botanical traditions have supported skin for generations — long before they were recognized globally. Their relevance is not limited by geography or skin tone. What is effective travels.

Your ritual starts here.

The Tiabele Standard

A clinical standard

Every product is evaluated through a physician’s lens — ingredient integrity, safety profile, and scientific plausibility.
What meets the standard is included.
What doesn’t, isn’t — regardless of trend, packaging, or price.

An edited selection of African and Diaspora-led brands

Each brand reflects a clear point of view — whether rooted in traditional botanicals or modern formulation science.
Nokware, grounded in West African ingredients. Urban Skin Rx, co-founded by a Black physician to better address problems experienced by skin of color. Black Girl Sunscreen, formulated for skin tones the SPF market historically left behind. Alaffia, produced by women-led cooperatives in Togo. Bamboi, formulated with Ghanaian shea, rare African botanicals, and proven actives — glycerin, ceramides and gentle surfactants— for results that honor both tradition and science.
This is not a collection assembled for variety.
It is an edit defined by standard

Ingredients that justify their place

No filler. No greenwashing. No ingredient complexity for its own sake.
Every ingredient — whether botanical or lab-developed — must earn its role through function, compatibility, and outcome.

What Makes Tiabele Different

African botanical tradition is one of the most sophisticated — and underutilized — foundations in skincare.

Shea from the Sahel.
Baobab across the continent.
Moringa, neem, black soap — ingredients with centuries of use and a growing body of scientific validation.
This is not rediscovery.
It is recognition.

The most effective formulations are rarely built from a single tradition alone. African botanicals run deep. Modern actives deliver. The best of both is what you will find here.
Tiabele exists to bring that standard forward — guided by clinical training, informed by cultural understanding, and applied with intention.

This is not a trend.
It is a shift in standard.
And we are building it.
